Blizzard wants World of Warcraft: Forever players in its Discord before launch day. A new blog, "Join the WoW Portal Room for Your Next Adventure in WoW: Forever," went up October 27 — Wowhead carried it at 14:08 CDT, 03:08 Beijing time on October 28 — and its pitch to Forever players is direct: "The WoW Portal Room is ready to welcome World of Warcraft: Forever players and help them build on the friendships, stories, and shared adventures that make Azeroth feel like home." Launch is seven days out, on November 4.

It's a Discord server, not an in-game room

The name invites confusion, so the blog settles it in one line: "The WoW Portal Room is the official World of Warcraft Discord server, bringing players and community Ambassadors together in an inclusive hub." No teleport hub, no quest giver — a chat server, and the blog is upfront that it is a means rather than an end: "Like any portal, it is a gateway—not the final destination."

WoW Ambassadors: community reps on duty

The Ambassadors are defined in the blog as "experienced players who represent their Discord communities in the WoW Portal Room." Their job, per the text, is helping "players of all backgrounds and experience levels find welcoming spaces that match how they enjoy Warcraft" — running content together, trading stories, learning from others, or simply staying connected to the world. Which communities are in the program, who the Ambassadors are, and how one applies: not announced.

Where this sits in launch week

The timeline makes the blog's job clear. On October 23, Blizzard thanked Beta testers and set character creation to open Tuesday, October 27; the same day's WoW Recap put the Early Name Reservations window at October 27 through November 3. Seven days before launch, this blog steers players toward the Discord. One note on Wowhead's framing: its summary calls the blog "incentivizing," but the text itself contains no in-game reward of any kind.

What's known, what isn't

Known: the publication date, the official-Discord positioning and the Ambassador program all come straight from the blog, and November 4 is the launch date Blizzard has repeated in several official messages since the Beta closed.

Not announced:

  • A direct Discord invite link — the archived text carries none; entry runs through the blog itself or Wowhead's report
  • The list of communities in the Ambassador program, or how to apply
  • Any official Portal Room events planned for launch day
  • Any in-game perk for joining — the blog doesn't mention one

What to do with this

  • Guildless? This is the week to fix that. Find a community in the Portal Room that matches your playstyle and timezone, so launch night has people in it.
  • Already made a character? Name reservations close November 3 — change your mind before the window does.
  • Run a Discord community? There is no application channel. Watch the blog rather than paying anyone who claims they can get you listed.
  • Brand new? The blog pitches the room as "welcoming spaces" — ask your starter questions there instead of hoping city chat answers.

The blog itself sits behind Wowhead's report: Join the WoW Portal Room for Your Next Adventure in WoW: Forever.
