Blizzard published two official World of Warcraft: Forever blogs on October 29 US time, relayed by Wowhead at 14:13 and 16:09 ET: a returning-player recap titled "Return to Azeroth in World of Warcraft: Forever" and a launch overview. Together they form the complete official picture for the final week before launch: Americas servers open the evening of November 4 — November 5, Beijing time — with more than 1,000 new quests across the level 1-60 journey, and the first three raids opening December 9.

Launch Is November 4 in the Americas, November 5 Beijing Time

The exact clock matters this week. The reposted overview states, "WoW: Forever launches in under a week on November 4th, at 3:00 PM PDT." A player thread on the official US forums, titled "One big reason NOT to take off work on November 4th," puts it differently: "The game won't even launch until 7 PM, EST." Blizzard has not published a per-region launch time table, and the two figures do not line up exactly; converted to UTC, both fall on the morning of November 5 Beijing time, which is the date this site uses for launch. So when you see "November 4" in official material this week, read it as Americas time — not November 4 in Beijing.

1,000+ New Quests, Four New Zones, Nine New Dungeons

Forever sits in the early "Year 1" of the original game: after Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom and before Molten Core, before Kazzak reopened the Dark Portal and before any journey to Northrend. Blizzard describes the game as built from the original level 1-60 world, expanding events, characters and locations that exist — "or could have existed" — in that foundational era.

Both original continents grow. Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor gain new and reimagined zones with more than 1,000 new quests across levels 1-60. Mount Hyjal covers the aftermath of Archimonde's defeat and a run through Darkwhisper Gorge. Shen'dralas turns a long-hidden mystery between Mulgore and Desolace into a new adventure tied to the Shen'dralar, Eldre'Thalas, Dire Maul and the local centaur tribes. The Riverglades is a frontier of rivers, grasslands, trade routes and old grudges, packing more than 150 new quests into the mid-30s to mid-40s stretch. Zephras Isle is the elemental-flavored level 1-12 starting experience, mixing classic Warcraft aesthetics with Skywall-inspired architecture.

Nine new five-player dungeons span levels 13-60, and Blizzard named all of them: on Eastern Kingdoms, Hall of Thanes, Ruins of Lordaeron, Excavation Site, City of Dalaran, The Drowned City and Krol'dok Stronghold; on Kalimdor, Alcaz Prison, Blackmaw Hold and Shaper's Terrace. No localized names have been announced.

Skyborne Ship at Launch, Six New Race-Class Combos Open Up

The new playable race, the Skyborne — also called the shen'dorei, or hidden people — levels 1-12 on Zephras Isle and picks a faction at character creation. Alliance-aligned High-Order Skyborne can become Mages; Horde-aligned Windshapers can become Shamans. Every Skyborne can also play Druid, Hunter, Rogue or Warrior. The gate is explicit: playing one requires the Heroic Pack or a higher digital upgrade.

Older combinations open up too. Alliance players get Human Hunter, Dwarf Shaman and Gnome Priest; Horde players get Orc Mage, Troll Warlock and Undead Paladin.

First Login: Preset Before Ruleset; Hardcore Comes Later

The first login opens with the Experience Preset choice, made before picking a Ruleset. Classic uses standard-definition models with quest markers, one-bag and transmog off; Enhanced uses HD models with all three on. The official advice is blunt: "If you are not sure which to choose, start with Enhanced." The preset is a starting point, not a lock — every setting can be changed later under Game Menu > Options, and the screen never appears again after the first login. Each new character also picks HD or SD models once at creation; that choice affects appearance only, and can be changed in the Options menu or at a Barbershop.

Rulesets come next. Four ship at launch — Normal, PvP, Roleplay and Roleplay-PvP — and each functions as a broad ecosystem rather than a single realm. Hardcore carries only a teaser: "sometime after launch." Details and timing have not been announced.

Names change too. Every character carries a two-part name, unique within a region, claimed first come, first served. The secondary name can be hidden above the character through the Nameplates options, though it still shows in chat.

Legacy, Campsites, and a New 15v15 Battleground

The Legacy System is account-wide horizontal progression split into Legacy Challenges, Legacy Perks and Legacy Rewards. Blizzard's own framing: "It's a whole new way to progress, focusing on exploring everything the game has to offer, rather than power progression alone." Leveling alts is not required — every advantage can be unlocked on a single character.

The Camping system turns the Cooking profession's Basic Campfire into a shared campsite. Nearby players can each add one profession-crafted Camp Feature, up to three per camp; sitting or crafting at a campsite for at least 1 minute grants its buffs, which are mutually exclusive with the corresponding class buffs.

On the PvP side, the Darkspear Islands battleground opens off the coast of Dustwallow Marsh: 15 versus 15, levels 30-60, four capture points plus a central flag, first team to 2,000 points wins. Reputation with the Darkspear Raiders or the Theramore Expeditionary Force unlocks faction rewards. Honor and Rank points come from battlegrounds, PvP quests and weekly seasonal tasks, with battleground holiday weeks paying extra.

December 9: Three Raids Open the Same Day

The overview puts a date on endgame: on December 9, level 60 players get three raids at once — Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit and Onyxia's Lair. Boss lists, raid sizes and the path into Onyxia's Lair are not in either blog.

What Is and Isn't Announced

Announced and verifiable in the two blogs: everything above, including all numbers, lists and quotes.

Not announced: Hardcore's timing and any details beyond "sometime after launch"; a per-region launch time table (the blog says 3:00 PM PDT only, and the 7 PM EST figure comes from a player post); localized names for the Skyborne, Zephras Isle and the nine new dungeons; launch-day events; and the bosses and sizes of the three raids.

The Pre-Launch Checklist

  • Keep a subscription or Game Time active — per the blog, "Access to WoW: Forever is included with an active World of Warcraft subscription or Game Time." There is no free tier.
  • Install the Battle.net desktop app, select WoW: Forever under the Game Version menu and hit Install. Blizzard also recommends updating your OS and graphics drivers and checking the system requirements before installing.
  • Planning to play a Skyborne? Make sure your pre-purchase includes the Heroic Pack or higher.
  • Names are still locked in through the reservation window, which closes November 3 at 23:59 Beijing time per an earlier official announcement — not covered in these two blogs.
  • Coordinating with friends? Align on Ruleset and faction before creating characters — same Ruleset, same faction to group, dungeon and raid together.
  • Locked out of your account? Start at Blizzard Support's "Can't Log In?" recovery page. Still without a guild? The official WoW Portal Room Discord sorts players by playstyle and time zone.
