The swing timer bar that vanished whenever you stepped out of range, nameplates that couldn't tell an elite from a normal mob, honor-gained spam after every kill at the cap — WoW: Forever's last pre-launch patch batch took all of them on at once. At 3:35 a.m. Beijing time on November 5, a few hours before the servers opened, Blizzard appended a User Interface and Accessibility section to its development notes thread on the official forums. Community manager Kaivax noted the section was added to the previous post and listed nine entries — all UI and accessibility work, no class tuning. Wowhead relayed it three minutes later (news ID 383741), text matching the official wording, and the client you logged into on launch day most likely already carries all of it.

Step out of range, and the swing timer stays put

The first entry fixes a daily annoyance for melee and hunters. The swing timer bar used to fade out the moment you left attack range; per the new note, it now stays on screen until the swing finishes. When you're dragging a pull around on a packed launch day, your auto-attack read no longer evaporates mid-fight.

Combined bag slots now show where they came from

With the combined bag enabled, the background art of each inventory slot indicates which bag the slot belongs to. Bag space is never tighter than the first days on a fresh server; when you need to free up a specific bag, the art tells you which slots to clear without clicking through them one by one.

The Elite mark is back on nameplates

The one outright bug fix: nameplates previously did not display Elite enemy status. Elite quest mobs and rares announce themselves on the nameplate again — worth a glance before you commit to a fight on your leveling route, instead of chewing through an elite you took for a normal mob.

Debuff icons no longer eat your clicks

Debuff icons on nameplates are now click-through: a mouse click lands on the target underneath instead of being swallowed by the icon. When nameplates stack up in a packed fight, switching targets is a one-click job again.

The spellbook opens level with everything else, and smaller in combat

Two frame changes together: the Spellbook and Talents frame now opens at the same height as the other panels instead of jumping around, and its combat mode has been reduced in size — less screen covered when you look up a spell mid-fight.

The PvP scoreboard changed, and that is all officials said

The PvP scoreboard display has been updated. The official entry is a single line and does not say what changed — layout or data, you'll see it when you queue into a battleground.

No more honor spam at the cap

Killing a player while at Honor cap no longer produces honor-gained floating text or chat messages. World PvP and battlegrounds are at their busiest in the launch weeks; once you hit this week's cap, your kills stop spamming the chat window.

Hover a keybind, see the button light up

In the keybinds menu, hovering over an action bar keybind now highlights the matching button on the action bar. When you're rearranging your bars or binding a skill to a new key, you no longer have to count slots — hover and check.

What's confirmed, and what isn't

Confirmed (official entries and timestamps):

  • All nine items are UI and accessibility work; no class tuning.
  • The section was appended to the existing development notes, not posted as a new document, and Wowhead's relay matches the official text entry for entry.
  • Timing: the official forum post is dated 19:35 UTC November 4 (03:35 Beijing time November 5); Wowhead's item 383741 followed at 03:38 Beijing time.

Not announced:

  • What exactly changed on the PvP scoreboard — the official note is one line.
  • Per-item effective times; whether the launch client carries all nine should be verified in game.
  • Whether further UI changes exist beyond the nine listed.

Six things to check in your first hour

  • Swing at a training dummy, walk out of range, and watch whether the timer runs to the end of the swing.
  • Walk past an elite mob and confirm the nameplate shows the Elite mark.
  • Click a debuff icon on a nameplate and confirm the click lands on the target.
  • Open the Spellbook and Talents frame and see whether it opens level with the other panels.
  • Queue into a battleground and look over the new scoreboard.
  • Open the keybinds menu and hover an action bar keybind to confirm the highlight.

None of these nine entries changes the numbers you'll carry into December's raids — that homework is the November 2 class-tuning batch. This batch handles one thing: fewer interface irritations on your first day.
