It's launch day in Elwynn Forest: you clear three quests and the map is already showing two exclamations you never picked up. There's a tool for that. Questie, the addon everyone knew from 2019 Classic, is back for WoW: Forever — Wowhead reported it in the early hours of November 5, Beijing time (November 4, US Central), and you can drop it into your addons folder today via CurseForge.com or any addon manager.

Mandatory in 2019, optional now

The 2019 Classic base game shipped without any quest indicators — that kind of guidance only arrived with Wrath of the Lich King — which is why Questie became such a household name. Forever is a different beast: the stock client has quest indicators built in. So this Questie is no longer a navigation device so much as a more complete map: it doesn't duplicate what the game already does, it fills in what the map layer still leaves blank.

The three things it actually marks

Per the report's list:

  • Quests that aren't in your log yet still get map markers, so you stop walking past them;
  • Quest-item drop points get extra map annotations, no more digging through database sites for a drop location;
  • When a party member completes a quest, the whole party gets an announcement — no more shouting about it on voice chat.

The list ends with an "and more" — the remaining features aren't spelled out.

Beta's lesson: the built-in tracker missed quests

Wowhead's reasoning comes from its beta experience: a number of quests tracked improperly through the in-game system, and some quests are easy to miss even on a second or third playthrough. If you want the full new content without a leveling guide holding your hand, that's the scenario it recommends Questie for. This is a media observation from beta play, not an official position — Blizzard's announcements carry no matching statement.

Who should install it, who shouldn't

The report draws the line cleanly: guide-followers and no-help purists are both excluded from the target audience. It's written for the middle ground — players who want a bit of assistance without having the whole questline spoiled.

Some things aren't pinned down: the report lists no addon version number or changelog, says nothing about how completely quest data covers Forever's zones, and doesn't go beyond its own feature list. Treat those as open questions until you see it yourself.

Installing it on day one

  • Open your usual addon manager or search Questie on CurseForge.com, and drop the download into your addons folder;
  • Once you're in the world, the extra map markers are the addon at work — take one lap around your starting area and count the quests you left behind;
  • The clock matters too: the first raids open December 10 on the China-published calendar (December 9 per the US announcement), which leaves roughly five weeks of leveling from today — every exclamation mark you miss on the map is experience you don't get back.
