One of the first quests you'll pick up in WoW: Forever's starting zones can leave you sitting at a campfire that refuses to acknowledge you. The Great Outdoors, the tutorial quest for the game's brand-new camping system, has a bugged first objective: typing /sit near the campfire makes your character sit down, but the objective never registers. Wowhead documented the issue on November 4 at 7:04 p.m. US Central — 9:04 a.m. Beijing time on the game's November 5 global launch day — along with a one-command workaround.

The quest is an early stop for nearly everyone levelling through the starting zones this week. It has two objectives: Sit near the campfire, and Gain the Boosted Rest buff.

Sit Once, Then Sit Again

The workaround costs you one extra command: while your character is already seated, type /sit a second time. The Sit near the campfire objective completes correctly on the second try. Wowhead's description is that the quest "appears to be a little bugged" — a normal /sit simply doesn't trigger it, but sitting first and repeating the command walks the objective through.

The full sequence: walk up to the campfire, /sit, /sit again, watch the objective tick, then stay where you are. The whole thing takes about two minutes, and it won't derail your levelling route in the starting zones.

One Minute of Rest Pays Out

Don't stand up once the objective ticks. Per Wowhead's write-up, waiting a full minute at the campfire awards a small Rested XP buff — the Boosted Rest the quest's second objective asks for. It's free experience at the lowest levels in the game, so you may as well take it.

The campfire itself is just the tutorial. The camping system proper runs deeper: profession objects like whetstone wheels, tents and fish tanks buff your whole party. Our campsite checklist ranks which objects to stock first, and the Cozy Bedroll quest route stacks a 3% group XP bonus on top.

Blizzard Hasn't Said Anything Yet

As of this writing on November 5, Beijing time, Wowhead is the only outlet covering the bug. Blizzard has posted no forum acknowledgment, hotfix note or fix timetable — not announced. The workaround is also self-verifying: sit twice at your campfire and you'll know within seconds whether it's still needed. If Blizzard quietly fixes the objective, the extra /sit costs nothing.

If You Hit It This Week

Don't burn levelling time on it. Confirm your character is actually in the sitting pose, send /sit once more, collect the buff after the minute is up, and move on.
