This post rounds up the class-facing changes in the beta builds around 2026-09-26: some from the official development notes, some from data mining (labeled as such). Forever encrypts its data differently from other versions, so datamined content may still be adjusted before launch.
One, the class changes at a glance
| Class | Change | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Druid | Wrath base damage up ~50%; Rejuvenation/Tranquility/Wild Growth can now crit; Thorns updates dynamically off the caster's spell power | Official notes |
| Druid (Feral) | Rip renamed to Primal Bite, signature debuff removed; the old "Wild Wrath" talent reverts to the Blood Frenzy name and icon | Official notes |
| Mage | Wake of Fire 20→30 sec, Hot Streak 15→20 sec; Ignite no longer double-dips percentage damage; Arcane Missiles rolls procs once per channel | Official notes/datamine |
| Paladin | Holy Strike damage up at every rank; Righteous Fury threat bonus reduced; a batch of Consecration fixes | Official notes |
| Hunter | Furious Howl attack-power coefficient -40%; Sonic Boom correctly unlocked for bat pets; Taming no longer possible above hunter level | Official notes |
| Priest | Dark Sacrifice reworked to scale with Spirit | Datamine |
| Shaman | Lightning Bolt and Lava Burst damage up | Datamine |
A few worth expanding:
Paladin Holy Strike: the per-rank weapon-damage percentage goes from 25%/25%/30%/30%/35%/35%/40%/40% up to 25%/29%/32%/36%/39%/43%/46%/50%. The official note states the design intent outright — fixing the "bought it, felt nothing" problem of the early ranks while leveling, so Holy Strike pays off across the whole leveling journey. This revived vanilla cut ability is the core damage skill of the Forever 60 paladin (see our paladin three-era comparison).
Mage Wake of Fire: the extension to 30 seconds came with a rare official design note — while leveling, mages need to drink between fights, and a 20-second buff was often wasted before use; 30 seconds "should help smooth out the experience".
Druid Rip rename: the reason Mangle became Primal Bite is interesting — its signature debuff was removed, so the name "Mangle" no longer described what it did; every talent referencing Mangle now points to Primal Bite.
Two, the gnome racial Eureka! takes a big cut
The heaviest blow this build was not a class ability but the gnome racial Eureka!:
| Version | Energy classes | Rage classes | Mana classes (damage) | Mana classes (healing) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Before | -20% | -40% | -50% | -15% |
| Now | -10% | -10% | -10% | -10% |
This "reduce the cost of your next 3 spells" racial previously varied wildly by class — mages could get close to a mini Innervate at a 50% mana reduction; now every resource type is unified at 10% (the +10% damage portion stays). The gnome aura in leveling-speed builds takes a serious step back.
Three, druids: consumables finally work in shapeshift form
A long-standing pain of vanilla (and TBC): drinking a potion or flask while in Bear Form breaks the shapeshift — a tank drinking mid-boss-fight was effectively self-inflicting a heavy hit. Forever removes that restriction:
- In Bear Form you can use consumables like the Minor Fortitude flask and receive the buff normally;
- Rage potions are usable in combat — one more emergency option for raid opening nights.
A genuine quality-of-life gain for bear tanks, and another sample of Forever's "gently fix vanilla inconveniences" design philosophy.
Four, what it means for talent builds
All of these values apply directly to leveling and level-60 talent builds: the Holy Strike buffs strengthen the paladin's leveling curve, Wrath +50% changes the boomkin's early feel, and the gnome nerf may send level-speed racers back to other races. Our talent simulator updates with the version data — and the 1-silver beta respec window is the perfect time to test it all.
