Blizzard has laid out the full PvP progression picture for Forever. The stated design pillar is "approachable and familiar": simplify the original Honor system without losing its skeleton. Two lines run through everything — Honor is the money, Rank Points are the status.

Honor: battleground income as a currency

Honor comes from defeating players, completing battlegrounds and relevant PvP quests, with bonus Honor in holiday-week rotating battlegrounds. One notable balance change: gains were reviewed across every battleground so efficiency is roughly even everywhere — Alterac Valley is no longer the de facto Honor slot machine, which finally makes map rotation worthwhile.

Rank Points: classic ranks with a weekly cap

Rank Points come from the same activities (holiday weeks boost them too) and push you up the classic rank ladder — ending at High Warlord for the Horde and Grand Marshal for the Alliance. The biggest departure from the original: rank progress has a weekly cap, keeping the weekly-settlement rhythm while compressing what used to be a multi-year grind into a season-sized goal.

Gear: a blue base, an epic upgrade chain

The Honor shop carries two PvP sets: one blue, one epic. Epics aren't bought outright — you upgrade the blue piece plus an Emboldened Seal, and the seals are rank-gated. Key milestones: Rank 2 unlocks the PvP trinket; Ranks 8-10, 12 and 13 unlock epic upgrade tokens slot by slot; Rank 11 grants mounts; Rank 14 unlocks epic weapons. Gaps from the original are also filled — Shamans now have healer, melee and caster PvP sets.

To track progress: open your Character pane (C) and check the PvP tab for your rank, points and available purchases.

Seasons: weekly tasks and Legacy Points

Each PvP season adds a task journey on top of the rank climb: weekly tasks grant Honor and Rank Points, and three of them each award a Legacy Point — these tasks live under the Legacy system, so missed ones can be completed in later seasons.

Practical read: Honor gear is the most controllable equipment source after dungeon drops once you're past 30 — wear the blue set as a base, swap slots to epic as you cross Rank 8; the weekly cap means steady play beats a one-week marathon. For comps see the talent library, for the version timeline the roadmap, and for how gear sources fit together read reading the gear database.
