Launch day is a race of login speed and mob-grabbing efficiency: addons follow a "stable beats fancy" rule, macros should prioritize target grabbing and UI quality-of-life. This page gathers the addon red lines, a pre-launch prep checklist and 49 levelling macros for every class. All macros follow classic-era macro syntax — if the beta API differs, in-game behavior governs; swap spell names for what your client shows.
Addon red lines and official replacements
Don'tAutomation is the hard line: no auto-combat, auto-gathering or auto-pathing tools — consistent with Blizzard's standing ban policy.Official
Don'tOne-button rotations are targeted: Hekili-style auto-suggest interfaces no longer work the old way (community, 09-17); the producer said on 09-16 that combat-assist addons are fully shut down and "the WA era is over" — details await an official announcement.Community · unconfirmed
Don'tNameplates have a protected edge: threat coloring, cast bars and skinning stay fine; per-NPC-ID recoloring/renaming/resizing of key mobs is not allowed (09-17).Community · unconfirmed
DoOfficial built-ins are coming: DBM-style timers, damage meters and nameplates will be built in (official pledge, timing unconfirmed) — hold off on third-party replacements.Community · unconfirmed
DoClassic addons are not drop-in compatible: install only builds that explicitly support Forever / 1.60.1 — don't force classic-era addons in.Our note
Pre-launch addon checklist
Preload the client: wait for the launcher to say "preloaded" — launch day is a login-speed race.
Refresh your addons: update everything through a manager (NetEase DD / rookie box on CN; CurseForge or equivalent elsewhere).
Back up Interface and WTF: a bad addon morning can be rolled back wholesale instead of reconfiguring.
Smoke-test addons on a throwaway lowbie first, then log the character you actually plan to level.
Keep only the core set: on errors, disable first and update later — beta addon APIs can shift.
Sources: macros follow classic-era macro syntax and community launch guides (verified 2026-10-06); beta API differences — in-game behavior governs · addon red lines mix official policy with community-reported stances, each labeled · never touch combat automation or scripting tools
