Note: this lead was originally published on October 15, 2026 by wowdb.wiki — not breaking news.

The database site wowdb.wiki has turned its header search box into a site-wide search: type two letters on any page and the results take the page's place; Escape or the close button brings the original page back exactly where you left it. No more digging through menus to look up a record.

What this search does

  • Every kind of entry in one list: abilities, items, recipes, quests, talents and spells each get a group and a tab with match counts; the closest matches come first.
  • Rows that tell entries apart: item rows show slot, armor type, item level and required level; recipe rows show profession and skill — you can tell you have the right hit without opening it.
  • Typos forgiven: the site's own example is blunt — searching "silvr brestplate" still finds Sterling Silver Breastplate, along with its plans and its recipe.
  • Searches you can share: the query, the chosen kind and the page live in the address, so a reload keeps them and a sent link opens the same results for a friend.
  • Quests, searchable: quests joined the index, and each one opens its own page with level, faction, zone, objective, giver and turn-in where the data exists.
  • The beta's level cap, hidden by default: items and quests above level 30 (the beta cap) are hidden in the lists; clear "Hide above level 30" in a list's filters to see every level — remember that toggle when checking data for later versions.

One editorial note: tools like this complement guides — guides give routes and conclusions, databases give record-level data. Using both is the fastest way to verify anything.
