Note: this lead was originally published on October 16, 2026 by Wowhead — a discovery followed by an official reversal, presented here as one complete story.

First the discovery (datamining terms: this only confirms the assets exist), then the reversal.

What was found

  • Mounts: the headline is the Spectral Wolf Pack — a mount that appears to let party members ride along on their own wolfpack summons. Previous multi-rider mounts were all single units, so this would be a first. Also found: Crimson Rooster and Verdant Sea Turtle;
  • Pets: Blossoming Ancient appears to change appearance with the season it is summoned in (as on retail), plus Gill'el;
  • Toy: one camping-related toy that appears to swap tent appearances;
  • Transmog: two full ensembles (the Blademaster set has the most pieces) plus an unaffiliated totem back piece.

Then Blizzard's clarification

After players flagged the models as off-brand for the Classic vibe, Blizzard issued a statement: these assets are not intended for this version of World of Warcraft. Because multiple WoW versions run in parallel, tactkeys discovered in one version don't necessarily belong to it — the recent Rexxar shop sets, for example, were first discovered on China's Titan Reforged servers. Which version this batch is actually for is unknown; an official announcement will have to come if and when the items reach any game.

The takeaway for Forever players: treat any "Forever datamined new mounts" claims with care — Blizzard has explicitly disowned this batch. That said, tactkeys in the client mean the files exist; whether they surface in another version — or someday in Forever — remains open. Until an announcement says otherwise, "assets of unknown destination" is the accurate label.
