The first key checkpoint of the launch sprint is here: a new "WoW: Forever - Stress Test" game option has appeared on the Battle.net launcher, dated October 19th, with the client downloadable right now.
What we actually know (Blizzard hasn't published details beyond the launcher itself): the new game mode sits under World of Warcraft in the launcher; selecting it starts a dedicated client download; and the listed availability date is October 19th.
Why it matters: this is the final — and largest — server-load validation before the November 5 global launch. Combined with the official "largest Beta ever" statement, launch day's server pressure needs a real-world rehearsal. For players the direct implication: expect queues, disconnects and gameplay restrictions during the stress test — that's the point. How it goes is exactly the data Blizzard needs to size launch day.
One thing you can do right now: pre-download the stress test client. Select the Stress Test option in the launcher and start the download so you're not stuck in the download crowd on the 19th. The full date timeline lives on the roadmap; day-one prep in the launch checklist; the Beta's server-capacity history (two population cap raises) in our earlier piece; and today's class design interview covers the "largest Beta ever" quote.
