Blizzard has put a date on it: the SD (standard-definition) Skyborne player models and their matching druid forms arrive in early 2027. The Classic community has been asking for this since launch — until now it was only teased; this is a real slot on the roadmap.

Why it matters: Forever's character models offer an SD/HD toggle, but the option originally covered only the original races. Veterans are attached to their old models, while the new Skyborne race shipped HD-only — noticeably jarring in a world that mostly runs SD. With the SD set, Skyborne characters can finally share the same "classic look" as everything around them.

HD druid forms get reworked too: alongside the announcement, Blizzard showed the direction for the HD Skyborne druid forms — less softness, more detailed fur textures, adjusted color saturation. The official framing: the Skyborne come from an exotic environment and their forms should look exotic, but not at odds with the visual language of the rest of the world's creatures.

Two reminders for anyone following this: the arrival window is early 2027 — don't count it as part of the launch (11 November 5) experience; and druid players should keep two separate threads straight — SD/HD visual consistency is one thing, the functional form changes (shapeshifting opening up and friends) are another, already covered in our Hunter & Druid deep dive. The overall schedule lives on the roadmap, and race details on the races page.
