One more option for launch day: Blizzard has confirmed via blue post that a Roleplay-PvP ruleset will be part of WoW: Forever at launch on November 4.

How the decision came about

In last week's official WoW: Forever podcast, Blizzard discussed its reservations about adding a Roleplay-PvP ruleset, while noting the topic was still being evaluated internally alongside player feedback. A few days later, the blue post delivered the conclusion: after carefully examining what it would take, "we decided to go for it. We will add a Roleplay-PvP Ruleset for launch on November 4."

What it means for name reservations

Blizzard is working to make the RP-PvP ruleset selectable during Early Name Reservation, which begins Tuesday, October 27 — meaning players eyeing an RP-PvP home should not have to wait for a later batch. If anything changes on the day, the launcher's selectable list is the source of truth.

Context

Previously we covered Blizzard's statement that PvP servers will have no lower-level PvP protection (see our report) — the RP-PvP ruleset runs on PvP rules plus the RP conventions. Players who want world-PvP tension with an RP community around it now have a dedicated home; when the reservation window opens (October 27 through November 3), pick the ruleset before grabbing names.
