The latest beta build brings a batch of class changes, and the one with the most direct impact on group play is this: many classic buffs have changed from party-only to raid-wide within 45 yards. We previously covered the party-vs-raid buff question for Forever raids (party buffs or raid buffs) — this build effectively writes the official answer into the talent data.
Affected buffs (mined from the build's talent files)
- Druid: Moonkin Form (+3% spell critical strike chance to all party or raid members within 45 yards, exclusive with Leader of the Pack) and Leader of the Pack (+3% melee and ranged critical strike chance to all party or raid members within 45 yards, exclusive with the Moonkin aura);
- Hunter: Trueshot Aura;
- Shaman: Fire Resistance Totem, Flametongue Totem, Grace of Air Totem, Strength of Earth Totem, and Windfury Totem — all five;
- Warrior: Battle Shout.
What it means
The change lands hardest in raid scenarios: under the classic rules, buffs covered only their own party, so raid leaders shuffled groups to make sure the shaman's totems reached the right people. With raid-wide coverage, one shaman in a 10-player raid takes care of everyone, and invites no longer depend on buff coverage. Buff classes gain value in recruitment — especially shaman, who bring five totems at once.
Two old rules remain: the Moonkin Form and Leader of the Pack critical auras are still mutually exclusive, so bringing both a Balance and a Feral Druid does not stack the crit buff. The report did not state the exact build number (it went live with the October 15 maintenance), and per-totem values were not itemized — players who want exact numbers can look the spells up by name in the talent data.
The impact on personal builds is limited for now: buff changes do not alter individual rotations, but decisions like "do we need a second shaman?" just lost one of their reasons. We will follow further class adjustments as builds land.
