A note on timing: the stirring rod and hammer come from discoveries reported on October 6 (datamined/player-found, not officially itemized); the skinning fix shipped with the October 3 build (officially confirmed as a bug fix). Details may still change during the Beta.
Professions have seen plenty of movement in Forever these two weeks — here are the two changes crafting players should know about.
Deadmines hides crafting-themed gear
Players have found profession-themed equipment in the Deadmines, and the latest build added another piece:
- Smelting Pants: a nice early-game pickup for leveling miners.
- Cookie's Stirring Rod: the newest find, usable by wand-wielders throughout and it speeds up cooking — train cooking while you adventure.
- Arcanite Blacksmith Hammer: the most fun of the bunch — a throwing weapon with a chance to stun that also functions as a Blacksmith Hammer. In classic play the hammer permanently eats a bag slot; once you can craft this, the old hammer can go.
Pieces like these are "horizontal progression": they don't directly raise combat power, but they make the chase itself enjoyable — very much the flavor Forever is going for. Deadmines is a low-level classic dungeon, so picking these up while leveling is realistic.
Skinning is back to one skin per mob
For about two weeks, grouped players in the Forever Beta could each skin the same creature once, pumping up leather income while nobody could tell whether it was a feature. The latest build settles it: Blizzard confirmed it was a bug and restored one skin per creature. That will reshape the leather economy at launch — group skinning strategies are out, and leather will likely feel tighter than it does on the Beta right now.
Gatherers should reset expectations to the classic model: one skin per mob, income from coverage rather than party size. Our Skinning 1-300 guide covers route planning; the Deadmines-adjacent picks are in the Mining 1-300 and Cooking 1-300 guides; the dungeon itself lives in the dungeon atlas.
