Three priest trees at level 60: what each playstyle looks like, which talents anchor it, and where Forever departs from 1.12. Every build is replay-verified point by point by the site's talent engine and loads into the planner in one click.

Which one first

  • Both healing specs are raid-ready: Discipline on the shield-and-Penance prevention plan, Holy on Renew and bouncing group heals — pick based on what your raid lacks.
  • Shadow for leveling and DPS: Spirit Tap for mana, Shadowform for efficiency — a 1.12 shadow priest migrates seamlessly, and Forever adds a new spreading damage-over-time.
  • One shared note: Wand Specialization (Discipline row 1) is flagged in beta guides as one of the earliest must-take talents — wands carry a large share of early damage.

Discipline (41/10)

The core chain is all about the shield: Improved Power Word: Shield → Soul Warding → Renewed Hope, topped with the WotLK import Divine Aegis (critical heals grant an absorption shield). Penance is the 1-point core on row 4 and Power Infusion's prerequisite. Mental Strength (5) and Mental Agility sustain the mana pool. The Holy subtree takes Twilight Focus, Improved Renew and Holy Specialization.

Holy (36/15)

The capstone Prayer of Mending is Forever's bouncing group heal — it jumps between raid members up to 5 times, and its prerequisite is Spirit of Redemption, so the after-death spirit form comes along the way. Spiritual Guidance (5) converts spirit into healing power, Searing Light requires maxed Divine Fury, and Binding Heal (1) is the emergency button. The Discipline subtree takes Power in Light, Wand Specialization, Twin Disciplines and Meditation.

Shadow (37/14)

Shadow Focus (hit) and Spirit Tap (mana on kill), both 5 points, open the tree; Mind Flay and its improvement are the filler core. Devouring Contagion (new in Forever) spreads Shadow Word: Pain damage to nearby enemies, and Early Demise adds execute-phase damage. Darkness is maxed at 5, and the Shadowform capstone requires Vampiric Embrace. The Discipline subtree covers wand, Twin Disciplines, Holy Precision, Mental Agility and Inner Focus.

Leveling order

Every build page lists 15 / 30 / 40 / 51 point milestones (for example Shadow leveling). General advice while leveling: grab Wand Specialization and Spirit Tap early and you will drink half as often. A respec costs 1 silver — switch to a healing build when the raid needs one.

Key differences from 1.12

  • Holy's capstone is now Prayer of Mending (Spirit of Redemption becomes a mid-tree point), a clear raid-healing buff.
  • Shadowform's numbers differ from 1.12 (+10% shadow damage, half mana cost), and the tree adds a spreading DoT plus an execute talent.
  • Discipline went from a 1.12 utility tree to a complete prevention-based healing spec — a full WotLK transplant.
