Scope: This is a Classic route reference, not a fully tested Forever route. Verify recipe thresholds, quantities, yields and Legacy effects in the current client before buying materials.
The most "playful" trade in Forever
Blasting caps, teleports, pets and gadgets — engineering carries the highest new-toy density of the crafting trades:
- 80 new recipes (beta datamining).
- Campsite recipes: every profession gets 3 campsite-specific recipes for Forever's outdoor campsites; the engineer's first is learnable at skill 20, and advanced blueprints drop from dungeon bosses — one more reason to run the dungeon atlas.
- The Gnome/Goblin specialization stays: no rush before 300, take the branch quest after 200.
The 1-300 route
Tier gates: Apprentice 5 (75), Journeyman 10 (150), Expert 20 (225), Artisan 35 (300). Engineering eats copper bars, cloth and stone; stock half-products in multiples. Representative recipes (classic 1.12 base):
| Skill | Make | Materials |
|---|---|---|
| 1-65 | Rough Blasting Powder, Copper Tube, Copper Modulator | Rough Stone, Copper Bars, Linen Cloth |
| 65-125 | Copper Scope, Bronze Tube, High-Speed Bronze Gearing | Copper, Bronze Bars, Wool Cloth |
| 125-165 | Heavy Dynamite, Gold Framework | Solid Stone, Gold Bars |
| 165-200 | Mithril Tube, Unstable Trigger | Mithril Bars, Solid Stone |
| 200-250 | Mithril Casing, explosive series | Mithril Bars, Thick Leather |
| 250-300 | Thorium Parts, Dense Dynamite | Thorium Bars, Solid Stone, Runecloth |
Three habits: pair with Mining (Mining 1-300) — stone is engineering's second ore, never trash it; overstock bolts and gears by ~20% (they feed many recipes); low-level bombs and pets sell fine on the auction house while you level.
The Legacy line
Working Overtime (+4-20% skill-up chance), Performance Bonus (Merchant's Favor from crate turn-ins — engineering is one of the main recipe buyers), Bartering (vendor discount on parts), and the certification title at 300. Full table on the Legacy page.
