The beta's final night deserves its own record. Blizzard closed five weeks of testing with a world-spanning party, and Wowhead's recap strings the whole evening together.
The supply drop
New NPCs appeared in front of the capital cities handing out unique consumables: fireworks, a scroll that speeds up you and everyone around you, and a potion granting 200% bonus experience.
Five world bosses in the starter zones
- Azuregos
- "Super" Hogger — the newbie-village king, maximally buffed
- Thunderaan
- Voracious
- Lord Kazzak
The loot was absurd
Killing the world bosses dropped legendaries: Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros, and Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker — weapons that took guilds weeks of raids to assemble in the old days, one per player for the night. Beyond that, mobs in every starter zone could drop full Classic Tier 1 set pieces and Molten Core weapons.
The finale: the Scourge invasion
Blizzard also re-released the contaminated boxes from the 2008 Wrath of the Lich King Scourge event, spreading the plague across Azeroth — veteran players will remember both the terror and the joy of zombiehood.
One-line summary
The farewell doubled as a message: the end of testing was not a cooldown, but a baton pass straight to the November 4 launch. None of the celebration content (as Blizzard noted beforehand) survives into the live game — it belongs to that night only.
