With the Beta level cap now at 30, the City of Dalaran dungeon is the next stop for many players. And the way in could not be more different between the factions: Alliance players simply talk to the Image of Archmage Modera outside Dalaran, grab the key and a quest, and walk in. Horde players, however, have to run a three-stage quest chain in Tarren Mill first. The flow below comes from Wowhead's write-up plus community video testing.
Stage one: pick up the opening quests in Tarren Mill
Quest givers: Magus Wordeen Voidglare and Keeper Bel'varil.
- Prison Break: find the traitors and recover their artifacts, then return to Magus Voidglare.
- Key to the City: acquire a Grimy Key for the Magus.
- Stone Tokens: bring 10 Worn Stone Tokens to Keeper Bel'varil.
Stage two: hand in, continue
- Dalaran Patrols: kill 6 Dalaran Summoners and 12 Elemental Slaves.
- Bracers of Binding: bring 4 Bracers of Earth Binding to the Keeper.
Stage three: into the city
- Blood in the Streets: turn the chain in to the Image of Archmage Modera outside Dalaran.
- Heart of Disruption: enter the city and collect the Arcane Mote — this step awards the Dalaran Sewer Key, your way in.
When the chain is done, Heart of Disruption sits in your quest log and the Sewer Key is on your keyring, ready for the day the dungeon opens.
Two reminders: this flow is the Beta-era, player-tested version — recheck it once the dungeon actually launches; and the chain has kill and collect quotas, so it's worth doing in a group around level 30 alongside your open-world route.
