With the WoW: Forever launch closing in, Shanghai recently hosted a two-day celebration (starting October 16) that brought the fabled city of Dalaran into the real world at 1:1 scale — and players showed up in force.

What was inside the city

The recreation leaned into the landmarks: the Silver Enclave and Sunreaver's Sanctuary flanked the streets, the Antonidas Memorial stood in Runeweaver Square — and the Dalaran Sewers housed WoW: Forever beta play stations. Playing the beta inside the Dalaran sewers is about as on-theme as a launch event gets. Mei Francis's shop was there too, with mounts on display.

How it played

Attendees got wristbands to interact with checkpoints across the event. Checkpoint quests earned Dalaran Gold Coins, redeemable for chest draws — the prize pool included murloc-themed hats and toys, wax seal stamp sets, stickers, and even deluxe collectible sculptures. Extra merchandise was available for purchase.

Why it matters

This was one of the largest pre-launch community events: Dalaran means something to every WoW player, and "walking into Dalaran in real life for the first time" says more about the game's momentum than any screenshot. The event has ended, but the signal is clear — the community is heating up for launch. Watch for possible follow-up events from the organizers.
