Comparing the Beta 1.60.1 client files, wow-forever.gg found that Blizzard has been reworking the combo point interface for rogues and druids: the new build adds a fresh set of combo point frame files while removing several old ones. The changes point to a rework of how combo points are displayed in the default UI. Everything below is data mining — Blizzard has not announced it, and details may change.
What was found
The new files live under Blizzard's own unitframe folders: the camelot subfolder gains comboframe.lua / comboframe.xml, dedicated druid and rogue combo point bar XMLs (druidcombopointbar.xml, roguecombopointbar.xml), and — most tellingly — a file named targetboundcombopointbar.lua, a "target-bound combo point bar". The mainline set gains new druid and rogue combo point Lua/XML entries as well. At the same time, several older combo frame files in both mainline and camelot were removed, which suggests Blizzard is refactoring how the combo point frames are put together.
The new event: COMBO_TARGET_CHANGED
Interface code now listens for a new event named COMBO_TARGET_CHANGED. Judging by the name, the UI may react when the unit associated with combo points changes — for example, the combo point display following the actually bound unit when a player swaps targets, rather than hanging off generic unitframe elements. The exact layout, timing and behavior are not confirmed in this build.
What it means for players
If the changes keep going in this direction, the most direct impact is on how rogues and druids read their combo points: feedback during target swaps, and any UI elements tied to the combo target, may change. Players using custom unitframes or class addons — especially addon authors — should watch for compatibility notes. Until Blizzard documents the feature, treating this as an ongoing UI update is the safest read.
