Two days into the CN wiped beta for WoW: Infinity (known internationally as Forever), two topics dominate the conversation: one about money — a WoW Token has appeared in the auction house — and one about experience — starter zones still have quests you cannot finish. This post untangles both, and closes with a timeline.
Sourcing note: the token part cites an NGA community thread (Oct 6-7) and the associate game director's September 14 press remarks — nothing is officially confirmed; the starter-zone findings come from launch-day media and community testing; the fix list is from the international beta's October 1 build. Official announcements and the live game govern.
1. A "Currently Unavailable" WoW Token Has Appeared in the Auction House
Players on NGA noticed (Oct 6-7) that the CN beta's auction house now lists a WoW Token entry — but it is marked "currently unavailable": it can be neither bought nor sold. The thread title says it plainly: "So the CN Infinity realms are getting a WoW Token?"
It deserves a closer look, because the official line read differently on September 14: associate game director Clay Stone told media that Blizzard has no plans for now to add a WoW Token or character boosts to Infinity. A month later, the interface shows a token entry. Two readings fit: either gray-release staging — the UI goes in first and gets switched on when the announcement lands — or plain placeholder scaffolding with no connection to an actual release. Nothing official distinguishes the two, so the only safe conclusion stands: an appearance is not an announcement. Wait for the notice.
2. What a WoW Token Is, and What It Would Mean
A quick primer for those who never played retail or Classic: the token is Blizzard's official middleman. Player A buys a token with real money and lists it on the auction house; player B buys it with in-game gold. A walks away with gold, B gets 30 days of game time. It moves gold-for-cash trading out of shady third-party channels and into an official one.
History from other versions (none of this is Forever data): after CN retail removed its 10,000-gold price cap, tokens climbed past 11,000 gold within half a day; Wrath Classic tokens went from 17,000 to past 70,000 gold in about two months. Wide swings driven by supply and demand are the norm.
What would it mean for Infinity? Our read (speculation, labeled as such): the CN beta is running a hard line on real-money trading — buying or selling gold can mean a permanent ban, and the beta even cut wand vendor prices to 1 copper to starve farming bots (see our CN launch-day guide). A token would open a legitimate front door between gold and game time: players get a legal way to fund their subscription, and the black market loses room. On day one, players even built a plugin that flags cash trades on the spot (reported by 3DM via NetEase). A firm official hand plus community policing point the same direction. When — or whether — the grayed-out token goes live is up to the official announcement.
3. Starter-Zone Quest Bugs: Both Skyborne and Tauren Zones Affected
Launch-day testing (a NetEase gaming channel, Oct 6) found multiple uncompletable quests in both the tauren and Skyborne starting zones. Other players (233 Leyuan, Oct 5-6 — a smaller outlet, cross-check advised) reported that some Skyborne quest dialogs still display in English — localization is not finished — and that the same issues sat unfixed on the international side for half a month.
Keep the two problems separate: uncompletable quests are mechanical bugs, English dialogs are a localization gap. For a wiped beta, only the first deserves your time — skip the broken quests and keep levelling; the test is for learning routes and feel (the leveling route table has you covered; the Skyborne race is described in our race guide). And do not skip reporting just because "it's only a test": the official bug-submission raffle runs Oct 6-26 with a Dwarf Hunter and Bear statue among the prizes, and a character wipe does not affect raffle eligibility — free entries are free.
4. What's Already Fixed: The International 10-01 Build as Reference
The CN beta client tracks the international build in real time (per NGA launch reports), and the international October 1 patch already fixed a batch of quest-related issues. The CN realms most likely carry the same fixes — the live game governs:
- Escort quests no longer fail to start when your quest log holds 25+ entries;
- Mob respawns sped up in Hillsbrad Foothills, Ashenvale, Wetlands, Duskwood and Thousand Needles — no more fighting over quest mobs;
- Mulgore gained the missing-pet quest (Kyle's Gone Missing!), rounding out the quest chain around the tauren starting zone;
- Known and still unfixed: attacks from behind at point-blank range can still be parried or blocked — if it happens while fighting face to face, it is not your rotation.
