What's new for blacksmiths in Forever
The plate-and-weapons trade got the biggest overhaul of the six crafting professions:
- 203 new recipes (beta datamining) — more than vanilla blacksmithing had in total, with low-level reworks already in.
- Repair utilities and stat gear: community reporting (mmoexp/mmo-champion, Sep 2026) says smiths gain repair-related utilities and stat-focused crafted items. Reported, not yet verified in-game — subject to launch.
- A chunk of new recipes is bought with Merchant's Favor from the trade authorities (see Legacy below).
The 1-300 route
Tier gates: Apprentice 5 (75), Journeyman 10 (150), Expert 20 (225), Artisan 35 (300). Same rule as alchemy: switch when green, buy 20% extra ore. Representative recipes (classic 1.12 base):
| Skill | Make | Materials |
|---|---|---|
| 1-65 | Rough Sharpening Stones, Rough Grinding Stones | Rough Stone, Copper Bars |
| 65-125 | Copper small goods: bracers, belts, sharpening stones | Copper Bars, Linen Cloth |
| 125-165 | Heavy Grinding Stones, iron small goods | Iron Bars, Heavy Leather |
| 165-200 | Green Iron Bracers, Moonsteel Broadsword (plan) | Iron Bars, Mithril Bars |
| 200-250 | Heavy Mithril series, Mithril Spurs | Mithril Bars, Thick Leather |
| 250-300 | Thorium Rod and the thorium line | Thorium Bars, Red gems |
Three habits: pair with Mining (Mining 1-300) — smithing eats bars; stones-only recipes (sharpening/grinding stones) are free points, never trash the stone you mine; the weapon/armor smith specialization at 200 can wait until after 300.
The Legacy line
Working Overtime (+4-20% skill-up chance — bars are costly, the odds compound), Performance Bonus (doubled Merchant's Favor on crate turn-ins speeds up recipe collection), Bartering (vendor discount when topping up bars), and the certification title at 300. Full table on the Legacy page.
