World of Warcraft: Forever is in its beta test window (September 17 – October 21), with launch set for November 4, 2026. This post rounds up this week's official server-ecosystem news; sources at the end.
One, the population cap goes up again
How popular is the beta? Game director Holly Longdale confirmed on social media that Blizzard raised the Forever beta population cap once again — note the "again"; she had already mentioned one such increase before:
"So... we had to increase the WoW: Forever Beta population cap again. The wild ride continues. ❤️"
— Holly Longdale
One-line summary: the test realms are packed, and the official team had to keep expanding.
Two, the queue bug is fixed
Beyond the expansion, the team also fixed an annoying queue problem: players who reconnected after a disconnect were being thrown back into the login queue. Blizzard confirmed the root cause and the fix in a forum reply:
"We looked into this, and found an issue that was causing the queue to fill, and we just fixed the issue. Thanks for testing with us!"
— Blizzard official reply
Three, beta ecosystem notes
- Routine restarts: the beta realms restarted briefly on September 25 to fix a batch of early-launch issues (another restart notice landed around this article's publication).
- Raid populations dipping: as the beta progresses, participation in classic raids (MC/BWL tier) has dropped noticeably — after the first-clear novelty fades, testing focus is shifting to leveling and talent builds.
- Name crackdown: Blizzard published that about 0.18% of character names in beta were banned and renamed for violations — a small share, but the list is quite entertaining.
The implication for players is direct: if you want to claim your ideal character name or taste the launch-day crowds, these beta weeks are the rehearsal. November 4 will only be more crowded.
