Scope: This is a Classic route reference, not a fully tested Forever route. Verify recipe thresholds, quantities, yields and Legacy effects in the current client before buying materials.
What alchemy is worth in Forever
Potions are the hard currency of every raid night and every leveling sprint. Forever gives alchemy two tailwinds:
- 72 new recipes (beta datamining) — one of the bigger overhauls among the crafting trades, with low-level recipes reworked too.
- Stronger, longer-lasting elixirs and flasks: community reporting (mmo-champion, Sep 2026) says Forever's flasks last longer and may hit harder. If it lands, alchemy's self-use value jumps. Reported, not yet verified in-game — treat as subject to launch confirmation.
The 1-300 route
Tier gates: Apprentice at level 5 (cap 75), Journeyman 10 (150), Expert 20 (225), Artisan 35 (300, trained).
Rule of thumb: switch recipes the moment they turn green, and buy ~20% extra herbs for the orange windows. Representative recipes per bracket (classic 1.12 base):
| Skill | Make | Materials |
|---|---|---|
| 1-60 | Minor Healing Potion | Silverleaf, Earthroot, Empty Vial |
| 60-110 | Healing Potion, Minor Mana Potion | Mageroyal, Briarthorn |
| 110-150 | Lesser Healing Potion, Elixir of Minor Agility | Bruiseweed, Stranglekelp |
| 150-200 | Healing Potion, Elixir of Agility | Wild Steelbloom, Grave Moss, Goldthorn |
| 200-250 | Superior Healing Potion, Elixir of Greater Agility | Sungrass, Kadgar's Whisker |
| 250-300 | Top-tier potions, first flasks | Dreamfoil, Mountain Silversage, Icecap, Black Lotus |
Three habits: pick your own herbs (Herbalism 1-300 pairs perfectly); stock empty vials — the bottleneck is always vials, never recipes; don't sell all your flasks, the dungeon crowd (dungeon atlas) buys constantly.
The Legacy line
Working Overtime (+4-20% skill-up chance — over dozens of potions that's real material savings), Dedicated Study (daily +1 for the last point), and the certification title at 300 (crafting professions only, account-wide). Full table on the Legacy page.
